The Lodge surgery remains, and has always been, open for business throughout the current pandemic. All of our patients are triaged before any face to face appointments are made at the practice in order to prevent the spread of COVID 19. Patients who ring the practice will receive a phone call from the appropriate clinician on the same day that they call if there is an urgent need. If the call is for a routine matter, in the majority of cases they will also receive a call that day but if the routine list is full, you may be asked to call back the following morning. Prior to COVID, our routine appointments were often booked up to a month in advance so the fact that patients are now receiving a call the same day means this has resulted in this waiting time being removed. If following the triage call, the clinician feels that you need a face to face appointment, you will be offered one the same day.
There have been huge changes in primary care and increasingly the best person for you to see may not be your own GP. Local GP practices have joined together to form the Chippenham, Corsham and Box Primary Care Network (CCB PCN) and we are finding new ways to work more closely together. Examples include receiving same-day access to a physiotherapist working in another practice across our network and being seen in our “Hot Hub” where we are reviewing any suspected coronavirus patients in a separate, clean and safe environment. To enable us to work more closely together, we need to improve the way that we access our patients’ notes. From September, we are adopting a process called “Shared Administration.”

We are now booking flu clinic appointments but due to the ongoing COVID situation we will run our clinics slightly differently this year in order to adhere to social distancing and ensure the safety of both patients and staff. As such, we are only running weekend clinic appointments to ensure we can adhere to social distancing rules. If you are eligible for a vaccination, we will contact you accordingly to arrange this. There will be separate clinics for over 65's and under 65's so it may mean that patients are not offered an appointment at the same time as their partner. Patients are requested to attend at their allocated appointment time, not in advance to avoid queues building up outside the practice. Please wear loose fitting clothes to make it easy for the clinician to access your arm. All patients will need to wear a face covering so please bring one with you.

Arriving For Your Booked Appointment
Due to social distancing and infection control purposes, we have limited waiting room capacity. This means that you may be asked to stand outside or wait in your car when you arrive for your appointment so please come prepared for all weather conditions. Please try to arrive at your allocated appointment time and not before.

It is now mandatory to wear a face covering in shops and on public transport. Please be aware that we are not able to provide exemption letters for patients who feel they cannot wear a face mask. You should also wear a face covering in enclosed public spaces where social distancing isn’t possible and where you will come into contact with people you do not normally meet. Anyone attending the surgery will need to wear a face covering to help keep everybody safe and prevent the spread of Coronavirus. Thank you for your understanding.

Online Appointment Booking Service Suspended
We have suspended online booking so that all patients go through our triage system for symptoms of coronavirus before attending the surgery. This is a safeguarding precaution and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Please call us to book an appointment instead. Please do not attend the surgery if you have symptoms. All other online services are available as usual.

Statement of Purpose
Lodge Surgery is a No Worries! Venue.
No Worries! is a young people friendly service for 13-24 year olds.
We offer confidential advice on sexual health issues, contraception and relationship issues to all young people even if you are not registered here as a patient.
If you are aged between 13-24 and would like to use this service please ask us for a No Worries! appointment. You won’t be asked why you need it, you will be given a brief questionnaire to complete just so that we can offer you the most appropriate appointment on the same day.
