Nurses

GP Assistant
Healthcare Assistant
Healthcare Assistants support Practice Nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement, patient health checks, ECGs and diabetic foot checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
Physician Associates
Physician Associates (PAs) are a relatively new type of healthcare professional. They are not doctors but they support doctors and the wider clinical team. PAs have completed an intense two-year postgraduate degree, having trained using the medical model, and are supervised by senior doctors. PAs assess patients, diagnosing conditions, conducting investigations and formulating management plans.
Phlebotomist
Phlebotomists are specifically trained to take blood.

Receptionists
Our team of Receptionists, led by Lisa, are available to help with booking appointments, answering queries and signposting patients to the most appropriate care pathway. They also process prescription requests and deal with a wide range of administrative tasks on behalf of patients.
Care Co-ordinator
Hayley, our Care Co-Ordinator provides a valuable bridge between the doctors, social care and the voluntary sector. She is able to spend time with patients and carers and is able to direct them towards where their needs are best met. If you feel she can help you please contact the surgery and we will arrange for her to contact you.
Living Well Team
The team offers support by signposting to local groups and community activities, promoting personal independence, mental health awareness, benefits and financial liaison support as well as reducing social isolation and managing daily routines.
Patients can self refer by calling the team 01249-462775 and choosing option 3.
Community Midwives
Midwives look after women during pregnancy, labour and birth and care for the newborn baby. They can be contacted directly on 01249 456434.
Community Nurses
We have a team of attached district nurses caring for those who cannot attend the surgery. If you need to contact a district nurse, please ring the surgery and we will arrange for the nurses to contact you.
Counsellors
A counsellor attends the surgery on a regular basis. Self-referral is not possible and an initial consultation with one of the doctors is required.
Health Visitors
A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing. They can be contacted directly on 01249 456459.
